Elton Sailing Club is situated on Elton Reservoir in Bury. Our Post code is BL8 2BR.
The club is accessed off Bolton Road Bury, via Kitchener Street, which is opposite the Wellington Public House, at the end turn right then first left over the narrow bridge and down the lane on the right. We are a very friendly Sailing Club and visitors are welcome to visit the club and have a look round at our facilities.
We are an RYA Training Centre with RYA qualified Instructors.
We sail on Wednesday afternoon and evening, Thursday evening – Ladies Who Launch, and Saturday afternoons for Recreational sailing and Training, and having fun and then on Sunday we hold three races starting at 12.30pm. Refer to Sailing and Training Programme for more details.
If you fancy a go at sailing just pop down anytime, or better still contact the club beforehand by E mail or phone (see below). We have all the boats and safety equipment you will need. Just bring a change of sports clothes. We are holding an On-board Day for local primary school children on Saturday 28th April and a National Push The Boat Out Day on Saturday 12th May 18, during which we offer free taster sailing sessions for all ages. Both start at 10.00am. Just get down to the club with a change of clothes, everything else is provided. If you like it then you can have a second and third free try on subsequent Saturdays to decide if you and your family like it. We then ask you to join and get full RYA training.
We have a big club room and bar and on sailing days the galley is open for hot food.
The club is run by the Club Council who are volunteers.
