Football might be coming home – Wednesday sailing cancelled!
In view of England’s unexpected progress in the World Cup it has been decided to cancel sailing this coming Wednesday evening.
The general consensus was that this was a good idea so that those who want to watch the match can do so. I know there’ll be some who don’t approve but this is a very rare occasion and we’re not likely to see a repeat of this for another 30 years or so.
Although there may not be any sailing the Club will still be open and Karen will, as usual, be serving up some fantastic food, and Dave will supply us with the usual excellent beverage and you’ll be able to watch the match on the big screen and shout as loudly as you like. Friends and family are welcome.
ANNUAL BBQ AND DUCK RACE – SATURDAY 14TH JULY.
It’s that time of year again – yes it’s our Annual BBQ and Duck Race . All members and friends are invited to this fun event to celebrate our quacking Sailing friendships.
Tickets now on sale both on WEB-collect, which is preferable, and from the bar. Prices are:
Adults: £5pp, (under 10 yrs – £2.50)
Start is 2.00pm, with the BBQ at 4.00pm and the Duck Race 5.00pm.
You can pick your favourite Duck by signing up on the List of Ducks on the bar. Each duck costs £2. Please put your money in the jar next to the list. Monetary Prizes will be presented to the first three ducks over the line.

Clear Those Weeds – Help Urgently Needed.
Saturday 30th June 10:00 Hours
You may have noticed that weeds are pushing up fast all around the club so it is proposed to have a good effort to get these under control and generally tidy the areas around the carpark, club buildings and berths.
If you can spare a couple of hours we can make light work of the job and get your club looking shipshape again! Full training will be given so you don’t need any prior experience, just get your gardening gloves on and down to the club around 10:00 on the 30th June. The club has only a limited number of tools so if you can bring some basic gardening stuff it would be helpful.
Refreshments will be provided and you might even get a sandwich if you work particularly hard.

Your club has enrolled in the national RYA Club Members’ Satisfaction Survey 2018 to help us understand how you feel about your club and what you like and dislike. The web based survey link will be sent to you by email and it will be easy to take part. The questions cover a range of topics so that we can get a full understanding of how you feel about Elton.
It will be going live from 1st June so you may receive an email around that time. All data will be treated according to relevant regulations by the club, the RYA and TLF and any information gathered will be treated in the strictest confidence and only used for the purposes of the survey. All responses will be treated as anonymous and will not identify individuals so you can be completely honest with your answers and comments.
The survey is fully funded by the RYA and is being offered to all affiliated clubs. It will be of great benefit to Elton if you can complete the survey since it will enable us to identify ways of improving your club. The more members that take part the more representative the results will be so please find the time to respond. When the results are complete a summary will be shared with all members.

Get those wet suits out and the covers off the dinghies. This coming Sunday – 25th March we launch the season with our Club Trophy Day – First Race 12.30. Three races in all. Blow the winter blues away and get back on the water.
On Wednesday 28th March we start our very popular Spring Pursuit Series with a 6.40pm start for the Optimists.
Then on Easter Saturday 31st March we are hosting a Joint Open meeting Albacores and Enterprises. Both these classes are popular at Elton and we are expecting lots of home boats on the water to welcome sailors from other clubs. First race 11.00am.
This event is closely followed on Easter Sunday by the start of our Spring Handicap Series. Three races, first race 12.30pm
As always our galley and bar are open to keep up spirits
Welcome back to sailing – Afternoon tea
24th March 2018 4pm
We are holding a welcome back to sailing afternoon tea on Saturday 24th March at 4pm.
There will be sandwiches, cakes, scones and of course tea and coffee. There will be tickets on sale this Wednesday evening in the foyer. There will also be a sign up sheet up on the notice board over the weekend.
Hope to see many people there and support our club. If you can’t make it why not buy a ticket for a family member or a loved one.
Its the last talk tonight a joint effort from our Commodore Peter Finney and our Rope and Training expert Adam Savage. Get down for a fun informative night and a chat about the forthcoming new season.
7,30 pm start and finish by 8.30 so plenty of time for a drink and chat afterwards. Hope to see you all there.
On Saturday 24th March starting at 11.00am all the boats stored in the Boat Shed will be taken out of the Shed. Can all owners please attend on that day and if they cant make it please can they nominate a substitute to take their boat out of the shed and put it back on its berth. Dave Moore and Peter Glynn usually oversee this “event” and help all as required.
The following Tuesday repair begins on the back wall of the shed so it must be cleared of all boats by then.
