This year Junior training is continuing through the Winter, one Saturday a month interspersed with Thursday theory and social nights.
The first social was a trip to Summit Up climbing in Oldham, the clip and climb appealed to all ages of Juniors and we even got to celebrate a birthday of one of our youngest sailors.
On the water, Sat 26th October brought some beautiful Autumn sailing conditions allowing sailors to develop skills in Toppers.
Next events are a Thursday Theory Night and Junior training on 23rd Nov.
Away from the club, there have been lots of events and training, Ava and Harriet managed to have a weekend in the same place when the Northern squads for 29ers and ILCA shared a training venue at South Shields.
Ava has been very busy competing at many ILCA 4 Qualifiers, with a great result of 9th (4th Girl) at the ILCA 4 Inland Championships. The ILCAs squeeze a lot of events in at this time of year so a busy period with lots of travelling but worth it as Ava has qualified for the ILCA4 Nationals squad.
In the 29er class, Harriet (with new partner George) competed in their first National event, at South Shields. With no wind forecast on the Sunday, the race officer got 5 races in on Saturday in perfect conditions in the South Bay. They were pleased with 12th place (3rd Mixed pair) and looking forward to the next GP at Rutland in a few weeks.
It’s also been a busy time for Team racing the last few weeks, following Elton’s success at the Northern Championship, Harry’s team came 3rd at the National Topper team racing championship.
