You are hereby notified that an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of members will take place in the clubhouse on Sunday November 18th 2018 at around 4:30 pm.

Welcome
Opening of the meeting
Apologies for absence
Approval of the agenda
Proposal to amend The Club’s Constitution
Closing of the meeting.

Proposal to amend the Club’s Constitution
Council would like to make some changes to The Club’s Constitution and seeks member’s approval to do so. Many of the changes relate to membership categories and other changes are designed to ensure that the Constitution is more in-line with the format suggested by the RYA. One major change is to remove the need for the club’s accounts to be ‘audited’ and instead to allow them to be ‘reviewed’ by a club member. All of the proposed changes (highlighted in italics) can be seen in the document attached below.  The present Constitution can be viewed on this website.

Marine Radios in OD Office – Update Oct. 2018

Dear Member – Marine Radios
Those of you lucky enough to have been selected for future race duties may be happy to find out that our radio system has reverted back to using the marine band. Although expensive to operate and license compared to the ‘free’ PMR system it does give better performance especially during poor conditions when it is likely to be most needed.
Operation of the base station unit is pretty self explanatory with only 3 functional button; Power and Channel M1 or Channel M2 selection.
Channel M1 is the preferred channel to use so ensure that this is selected on the base unit and that the handheld radios are locked to channel M1 before use. It is wise to carry out a radio check before venturing onto the water. Do not attempt to use the handheld radios on any channels other than M1 or M2 since this would be in contravention of our operating license and could leave the club or unlicensed individuals liable to a very heavy fine if OFCOM decide to come sailing.
Thanks to Paul Savage for his help organising the base station.

Boat Shed Clear out

Dear Member,
Winter boat storage will soon be upon us so it would be timely to start sorting out some of the junk and mess that seems to accumulate in the boatshed during the season.
Of particular concern are the numbers of abandoned masts and booms which bear no identification whatsoever and which seem to have been resident for some time.
A condition of most insurance policies is that such parts are clearly identified with boat number/name etc and doing this would also be a big help in managing the sheds. Therefore, could owners please ensure that their equipment is clearly marked before winter storage takes place in November.
Equipment which remains unidentified after this time may have to be disposed of or moved to the back of the boatshed so as to free up space for others.
Thanks for your cooperation.
